Marketing and Sponsorship Opportunities
The Marathon County Historical Society hosts several annual events throughout the year. Through these events we hope to reach people with a wide range of interests. Watch for the following list of events each year.
Whether our events are educational, glamorous, just for fun or a combination all of these, the Marathon County Historical Society's annual events support important programs that enable the us bring our history alive.
In addition to these annual events, don't forget to watch our calendar for special events that offer unique opportunities for us and the community.
- February - Victorian Valentines Tea
Member Discount Applies
Reserve a table and enjoy an afternoon of tea and treats for you and your friends.
- May - Preservation Month
Open to the public - donations suggested for tours
Each May the Historical Society holds several events in support of Perservation Month including guided walking tours of Wausau's historic districts.
- Mid-Summer Event
Free and open to the public
Each year, the Historical Society hosts a summer event. Typically this event is held in the Yawkey House yard and gardens, but may change depending on the theme. In past years, the event has been as extravagant as a weekend long Festival and as relaxing as an an ice cream social. Check out our Calendar of Events to learn more about this years event.
- August - Children's History Day
Member Discount Applies
Looking for something for your children to do during the summer? Children's History Day offers a unique opportunity for your children to play games and make crafts from the past.
- September - History Day/Weekend
Open to the public - donations suggested for tours
History Day/weekend events vary from year to year and can feature such things as cemetery tours, historic house tours, preservation classes, historic lunceon, and more. Check out our Calendar of Events for more information.
- December - Holiday Open House
Free and open to the public
Stroll through our two historic houses and enjoy an old fashioned Christmas. Refreshments provided.
- December - Member's Only Reception
Free Members Only Event
This highly attended Member's Only event is a great time for our members to socialize with the board, staff and other members. Enjoy refreshments and hors d'oeuvres in a great historic setting.
- Members Only Exhibit Openings
Free Members Only Event
Members are invited to a private opening of all of our exhibits. The evening includes refreshments, hors d'oeuvres and guided tours of the exhibit.
