Thanks to the efforts of Nancy Melang, Shelley Green, Char Creske and Mary Schreiber we are able to provide you with these searchable databases indexing the names that appear in various local history publications, Wausau City Directories and our obituary files. We are continually adding more names to each of the indexes, so please check back with us often.

  • Local History Publications Database
    We are focusing on indexing Centennial books from towns all around the County. These books are a wonderful resouce and contain detailed information and photographs of the people and places that effected the growth and development of these communities. Our library has copies of all centennial books published to date. Please stop in or contact us if you wish to research an area that is not included in our online index.

  • Early Wausau City Directories Database
    Our library has copies of all directories beginning in 1883. To compliment these directories, we also have several copies of Marathon County Plat Maps beginning in 1882. Please stop in or contact us if you wish to research years that are not included in our online index.
  • Obituary Index
     We began clipping and filing obituaries around 1990. Prior to that, we maintained obituary and biography files mainly on predominent citizens in the area. We are working on adding all of the obituaries in our files to this online index plus keeping up on all current obituaries. Even though this database is in the beginning stages of development, we have a large number of obituaries indexed. The database is updated weekly as our volunteers work on entering the names from our files.
